The Ophthalmology Department, Dunedin School of Medicine runs an intensive interactive 11 day residential course in Dunedin in November each year and is limited to 36 places. The course is for New Zealand and Australian medical graduates in their second year of the RANZCO training programme to prepare for the Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologist (FRANZCO).
The 2025 dates are still to be confirmed. Note that this course will be in person with no livestreaming or recorded options. Attendance
The 2024 Course is to be held in person in Dunedin, New Zealand. Lectures run every day (with the exception of Sunday) from Monday 11 November to Friday 22 November 2024. There will be no virtual/livestream option or any recordings of any session.
Readings
All notes and copies of presentations will be provided electronically. Candidates will be given access to a Dropbox where content provided by lecturers will be made available to download. Access to this dropbox will be available until 1 July 2025.
Fee
NZ$3,850.00 (includes NZ GST) must be paid by 20 August 2024 to confirm your place. Lectures Only NZ$3,190.00. Candidates will be able to pay by credit card via the course website, alternatively payment can be made by internet bank or international money transfer (in NZ dollars). Candidates will be sent a link for registration once they have been approved entry on the course. Internet banking will be available on the downloadable invoice. When payment is received a receipt will be emailed to you.
Fee includes: tea/coffee at refreshment breaks, boxed lunch on OSCE days only, welcome function Monday, course dinner Saturday. Includes 4 OSCEs (candidates in pairs, one examined, one observing).
Programme
Candidates will be provided with an up-to-date programme, however the Organising Committee reserves the right to make changes to the programme at short notice.
Health
Candidates may not attend if they have any communicable disease (including COVID-19). Candidates should contact the Course Organiser immediately should they become sick – candidates will not be permitted at the venue (or the OSCEs) if they are exhibiting any cold or flu symptoms, and may be required to produce a negative RAT COVID-19 test if requested. It is recommended that candidates be prepared to wear masks at inside venues when instructed.
Refunds
Cancellations received prior to 1 October 2024 will be refunded less an administration fee of $300.00. No refunds will be made from 2 October 2024.
The organisers take no responsibility for a candidate’s inability to attend in person and/or disruption to travel.
Candidates should take full travel insurance and it is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that their course fees are covered.
